Colombia: in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world and full of endemics, in fact with the highest number of endemisms in one place in South America. Definitely a must for anyone interested in ornithology.

This hotel is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and has hummingbird feeders in the garden, delicious food and wonderful service by the hosts. There are 14 rooms with private bathrooms (4 doubles, 2 twins, 1 triple, a room for 4 and another for 5).

Nearby is the El Dorado Reserve, with 19 endemics! You can see Santa Marta Parakeet, Yellow-crowned Whitestart, Santa Marta warbler, Santa Marta Bush-tyrant, Brown-rumped Tapaculo, Santa Marta Screech-owl, Santa Marta antpitta and Rusty-headed Spinetail here amongst many other species.
