At the entrance to the Djoudj National Park in northern Senegal. Without doubt the best accommodation in the area, and close enough to the best sites in the park that you get in several hours of early morning birding without having to get up too early.
60 rooms! 30 with air conditioning and the other 30 with ventilation. Not cheap as far as African hoels go, but take the excellent location into account and the fact that double rooms cost the same as singles (around 45€ not including breakfast which is around 4.50€).
There is a swimming pool and a large garden where you can watch birds.
You can contract guides and boats to see the birds of the National Park. Idrissa is by far the most knowledgable guide for birds in the area including specialities like Arabian Bustard, Greater Painted-snipe, Black Heron etc.
