Ávila, central Spain: an excellent location, and without doubt one of the best places to stay in the Valdecorneja-Piedrahita area. Trails to the oak woods which climb to the highest parts of the Sierra de Villafranca (Cerro Moros 2,059m asl). An excellent area for watching forest birds (Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Tree Pipit, Pied Flycatcher etc.). Near the Peña Negra pass  where you can see high-montane species like Bluethroat, Common Rock Thrush, Golden Eagle and Common Snipe.

You can hire the whole house. There is room for up to 7 people diviided between 2 doubles and a triple room.

The house is fully-equipped, with free WiFi, heating, dishwasher, a full log basket, barbecue ready-to-use etc.  And if there’s anough to go round guests can eat fruit and veg from their own garden in August and September!

The owner, Susana Curiel, is absolutely charming.
