In the Vegas Altas, an area of fields and flooded land near Moheda Alta flooded fields and the Embalse de Orellana ZEPA (Specially Protected Bird Area) in eastern Extremadura. It’s the best place in the whole of Spain to see wintering Common Crane and it’s also good for waterbirds.

As with many Extremaduran bars, it’s inevitable you’ll see hunters if you are having an early breakfast in winter, particularly at the weekend. With mutul respect there tend to be no problems at all. They open at 6am on hunting days.
