Batumi, Georgia: there are single rooms, and shared rooms for two or three. Typical regional home cooking and on top pf this a spectacular setting: every year more then a million birds of prey are recorded passing though. There is also a bar for birders.
Batumi Birding (Georgia BirdLife partner) is part of a local eco-tourism project that came about as a result of the Batumi Raptor Count, which verey year censuses raptor migration with many volunteers in what is probably the best site in the Western Palearctic to this end.
The eco-topurism project involves local people from the town situated near the raptor observatory. This is an important development given that illegal hunting is rife in the area. Local families open up their homes, properly prepared, to visiting tourists, who in turn are made to feel right at home.
There are single bedrooms, and rooms that can be shared by two or three people. The food is all home-cooked, local fare, and the setting is spectacular. Every year, more than one million raptors are recorded passing overhead. There is also a bar for birders which has a great atmosphere.
70% of the profits of Batumi Birding go towards the conservation of ecosystems and the fauna of Georgia
