- How many times have you planned a birdwatching holiday and you weren’t sure where to sleep, eat or buy products in the region you visited?
- How many times have you been birding in an area new to you, where you discovered a bar, restaurant or hostel that left a special impression?
- Or that the place you always knew had changed owners and wasn’t the same as before?
- How many times have you made the trip to a birding mecca only to find a lack of interest in birding birdwatching clients on the part of the owners of local establishments?
We at Lonely Birder are sure you have asked yourself at least one of these questions on previous trips. That’s why we offer a space that groups together all the best places to eat, sleep and buy typical products that every birdwatcher should consult before making a birding trip to Spain or the rest of the world. It’s an idea we have had for a long time that has now been put into effect.
The Lonely Birder website features information on wild places of interest to the birdwatcher in Spain and the rest of the world, and establishments that can make any birdwatching trip easier and more comfortable. Imagine sitting at a neighbourhood bar with a tremendous selection of home-made tortilla tapas as the sun sets over the nearby lagoon. Imagine stopping en route at a traditional cheesemakers or a craft workshop that produces bird figurines.
On top of this we want to support ornithological tourism. How? By creating a seal of quality for accommodation establishments. All places that meet the criteria established in detail on this website are awarded between 1 and 5 feathers after a points-based assessment of their services. In this way we support owners who support quality birding tourism and the conservation of wild birds and their habitats.
Whether you are the owner of an establishment or a birding customer, you can contribute to this growing project by leaving details of new locales. You can fill out and submit information in the following forms.
We hope you find this website useful. Many thanks and welcome!
