Located inside the Niokolo Koba National Park. A must for birders visiting both Senegal and Gambia. The lodge offers views over the Gambia river where, beer in hand, you can watch hippos and other animals as well as key birds like Egyptian Plover (eating peanuts at 1m!!), Violet Turaco, Palm-nut Vulture, Northern Carmine Bee-eater, African Finfoot etc.
Prices are somewhat high when you consider the quality of the rooms, which are in small adobe huts. They are clean and tidy, thoush. 40€/ 25,800 CFA.
Each midday and evening meal costs 11€/ 7,200 CFA. The quality/ price ratio is good for an African country. The food is nothing to write home about but the locale is remote.
You can hire a canoe, with or without a canoeist, for 5€ / 3,300 CFA for 2h. This is worthwhile for observing and photographing the likes of African Finfoot and Egyptian Plover and many other species.
There is no WiFi and the electricity generator is shut down at night.
