Gambia: situated on the river, this is a magnificent option for those wanting to do small trips to see birds like Palm-nut Vulture or Abyssinian Ground Hornbill. Basic, but comfortable and above all well-located.
Tendaba Camp is basic but comfortable accommodation on the banks of the Gambia River, close to the Kiang West National Park. Its location is unbeatable for making excursions to see different species. The staff are firendly. There’s a good atmosphere. The food is good. No frills, but in the country’s interior you can’t expect any luxury.
It’s a good point from which to make excursions upriver. You can hire a boat to go and see birds at Kissi creek or Tanku. In the nearby ricefieldsthere are Hadada Ibis, Village Indigobird, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, African Yellow White-eye and Black-rumped Waxbill among many other species. Near Tendaba you can also see Abyssinian Grond Hornbill.
