Located in the Antisana Ecological Reserve, one of the best places to observe several highlights of the Ecuadorian Andes: Andean Ibis, Silvery Grebe, Giant Hummingbird, Andean Hillstar, Carunculated Caracara … and Andean Condor, of course.
The restaurant is perfectly integrated into the landscape. From its windows you can view an Andean Condor nest as well as observe Giant Hummingbird and Shining Sunbeam at well-positioned sugar feeders. Delicious Ecuadorian cuisine. On the menu you can find soups, fish (trout), meat (steak, chicken with coriander sauce) and good homemade desserts. All this in warm, cosy and well-decorated premises with a lots of photos of birds.
Besides the restaurant, Tambo Condor has two cottages overlooking the Rock of the Condors. Each cabin has three beds and a private bathroom. The bathrooms have an electric shower. You can rent a cabin for $30 a night for up to 6 people.
The owners track the condors’ breeding progress, working in conjunction with international organisations like the Peregrine Fund.
