The quality/ price ratio here is unbeatable. The food is simply delicious, with many local ingredients and a great selection of Extremaduran wines. You can taste Carmen’s flair for cooking in every dish.
Situated in the heart of Monfrague National Park, an obligatory stop for any trip to Extremadura. The park’s ornithological value is well-known: strong populations of rare breeding birds like Black Stork, Spanish Imperial Eagle and Eurasian Black Vulture.
Very few establishments in the Monfrague area offer the birdwatcher such an authentic, peaceful stay: this is an old farmhouse with an authentic Extremaduran restaurant, all restored with great taste and care. This is a 600ha “finca” on the slopes of the Sierra de las Corchuelas, the backbome of Monfrague. From the terrace, the panorama includes the Monfrague castillo and the Salto de Gitano (“Gypsy’s Leap”) over to the west, and looks south over the endless dehesa. You can bird on foot in the finca, reaching an old Roman bridge over the Arroyo de la Vid (“Stream of the Vine”).
The quality/ price ratio here is unbeatable. The food is simply delicious, with many local ingredients and a great selection of Extremaduran wines. You can taste Carmen’s flair for cooking in every dish, all made from ingredients from the fincaa (meat, jamon, veg, honey, jams etc). The sitting/ dining room has a fireplace and comfy siofas where you can read birding magazines and books.
The house has six spacious, cosy rooms (two of them with fireplace)- peace is assured.
This is a great place for treating yourself during your visit to Monfrague and making it an authentic and memorable experience.
