Situated in Montsonis, at the foot of the Sierra de montsec, this is a collection of apartments, casa rurals and rooms in an unique setting- a well-preserved medieval town below some cliffs where raptors like Egyptian Vulture, Bonelli’s Eagle and Eurasian Eagle Owl breed. The Segre river flows through a well conserved riparian woodland below.
A total of 60 places are distributed among various casa rural and aprtments, some, like Cal Taverner with 11 places. No more than twenty people live in the town all year, so peace is ensured. The town is very well-looked after, with native vegetation growing everywhere that attracts many birds. In the town there is a hide looking onto a small bird table which attracts sparrows, Robin, tits and Nuthatch. Access to the hide is free for guests.
The owners offer bird guiding and photography services, and they have various hides in operation for observing and photographing raptors like Bonelli’s Eagle, Bearded Vulture and steppe species like Little Bustard and Montagu’s Harrier.
The reception and restaurant is at La Botiga de Montsonis, where there is also a shop selling local food products, crafts, medieval-themed ornaments and birding and naturalist literature, routes and maps.
They offer naturalist courses in photography, gardening and conservation among others.
