Toledo, central Spain: although this looks like your typical roadside last-chance saloon, the quality of the food in relation to price is excellent. They have a weekday menu at 10.50€ for lunch and dinner (from 1pm- 430pm and 9pm-11pm) except on Saturdays when only lunch is served. They specialise in wood-oven roast meats (including piglet and lamb). Fried fish of the day. They have an extensive wine cellar.
Although not in an especially good area for birds, this is a good choice for those travelling between Madrid and Extremadura who want to make the trip across the country instead of folowing motorways.
Large, monitored carpark outside.
The only drawback is that it can get packed with truck drivers at certain times, but service is usually fast and efficient.
