Asturias, northern Spain: this campsite is not divided into allotments, but visitors can pitch their tents wherever they want inside the perimeter, allowing closer contact with nature. The atmosphere is relaxing and charming. There are also very attractive, fully-equipped cabins for hire.
The birding is typical of the high Cantabrian mountains, with plenty of raptors (Golden and Short-toed Eagles, Griffon Vulture, forest species), Asturian valley birds like Northern Bullfinch and Yellowhammer and high mountain specialists like Snow Finch, Wallcreeper and both Choughs if you make the effort to climb to the tops.
You can try typical Asturian cuisine here, with fava beans, escalopes of goat, mountain game etc, all well-washed down with a cup of fresh local cider. The campsite has a bar/ eatery where you can try some of these dishes.
