Catalonia, Spain: between Aragon and Catalonia, the Mont-Rebei gorge bisects the Sierra de Montsec from north to south and is the first great geological formation of the Catalonian Pre-Pyrenees. The Fundacion Catalunya- La Pedrera Reserve protects nearly 600ha of the Catalan side, with a river where you can watch otters, rock faces where it is relatively easy to observe Wallcreeper in winter, and the north-facing oakwoods of Montsec d’Ares.
The ruins of the old farmhouse serve as an information point for visitors to the gorge. Local produce like wine, craft beer, liqueurs, dried fruit and nuts, chocolate, dried herbs and ecological honey are sold here. There also maps, guidebooks and other titles in stock. A bird checklist of the area is available.
