Ecuador: probably the largest hotel in the Puerto Lopez area. Leaving aside the décor, the rooms are spacious, clean and reasonably priced at around 40€ for a double, depending on whether or not you want a ventilator. Don’t expect luxury, just the bare essentials. There aren’t many other options locally. The food is nothing to write home about but you have several options along the seafront.
Good location in front of the beach at Puerto Lopez, the point where boats leave to the Isla de la Plata (“the poor man’s Galapagos”) and the nearby Machalilla National park. The landing of daily catches along the seafront at daybreak affords the impressive sight of hundreds of frigatebirds, pelicans, Black Vultures, and gulls trying to snatch some fish.
Swimming pool and WiFi.
