It’s situated in Mindo, one of the mecca birding sites worldwide. It’s the South American region with the most reduced distribution species (+50) as well as endemic and near-endemic species (38). Within an area of 40 km. you can find more than 676 species! This makes Mindo one of the most diverse birding areas in the world.
Although they offer accommodation, it’s worth paying a visit to this establishment to see its busy feeders full of hummingbirds. It may be the best place in Mindo to see hummingbirds. The owner has been taking care of the garden for years, selecting the right plants to grow for these specific birds so he has been able to attract a good number and variaty of them, such as: Brown Violetear, Green Thorntail, Booted Racket-tail, Empress Brilliant, Purple-crowned Fairy, etc.
If you’re not staying here you can also visit the garden paying a fee of 1 USD (2012) and watch these birds comfortably. It’s an ideal site to take photos at close range, particularly when it rains.
