An ideal place to have a good tapas after birding around the Special Protection Area of Embalse de los Canchales. Excellent quality/value price. The suckling pig is highly recommended.

Panama: this is an excellent lodge in the Anton Valley. It specialises in nature tourism, particularly birdwatching. There are feeders in the garden where you can watch a great variety of highland forest birds. Agutis and Grey-necked Wood-rails are commonly seen in the grounds. There is a good guide service. You can arrange excursions in the surrounding area and further afield. Along the river you can see many interesting species and there is a tree platform (Canopy Tower) which is a magnificent observatory bird and mammal species. You can see Black-crowned Antpitta and Snowcap here. There are 12 spacious rooms with private bathroom and garden views. There is a well-stocked naturalist´s library and WiFi. You can also bathe in crystal-clear springs. The accommodation is close to the nearby town, but far enough away that you can get away from it all in the montane setting.
This is a typical northern restaurant specialising in grilled meats, free range chicken, stewed oxtail and grilled cod. All dishes are homemade and delicious, including home made french fries that are very rarely found in restaurants nowadays. Excellent quality/price value. The portions are superb!

Hotel in Lires, Galicia, next to the Lires river along the Costa da Morte. Fisterra is only 12km away, making this an excellent base for exploring the Galician coast. This establishment has a great quality/ price ratio, especially outside peak tourist months, when seabirds (especially gulls) […] abound in the area. Free WiFi is available in communal areas of the hotel. Free parking available on request, though this is normally not necessary. Good Gallego cuisine using fresh produce from the local area (fruit, vegetable and fresh catches).

Cadiz, Andalusia: a seaside bar-restaurant located in the middle of the Bay of Cadiz Natural Park, with terraces right by the Saco Interno de la Bahia, where you can watch birds at close range with the changig tide while you try this establishment’s tasty menu, mostly fish and seafood. Recommended is the plate of mixed small fish (whitebait and others) and other dishes like choco a la plancha (grilled cuttlefish), fish like Zapatillas (Gilt-head Bream), Robalos (Sergeant Fish) or gambones (large, tasty prawns), papas aliñas (dressed potatoes) and tortillas de camarones (fried shrimp fritters), all very good value.
